Swedish Composers: Sven-Erik Bäck by Mattias Lundberg
Sven-Erik Bäck (1919-1994) was a uniquely versatile composer and chamber musician, with a rich production of original compositions that in various ways capture the whole of the complex twentieth-century changing currents of ideas and artistic ideals.
His systematic and far-reaching collaborations across art boundaries with prominent poets, sculptors, choreographers and theologians have left deep and lasting traces in Swedish cultural life, and made a number of his works and parts of his other music activities internationally renowned.
