Swedish Composers: Laura Netzel by Camilla Hambro
The composer Laura Constance Netzel (b. Pistolekors, 1839- 1927) was around the turn of the last century one of Sweden's most internationally successful composers. In addition to her composition, she was also an esteemed pianist, singer, harpist and conductor.
The driving force behind her efforts to take the leap abroad as an unknown composer she described as the desire to achieve a recognition of the woman as a composer.
